Oia, Santorini - Jewel of the Seas Greek Isles 2018

Leading up to the cruise I researched the different ways to explore Santorini. 1) ship excursion 2) cable car up to Fira and bus or taxi to Oia 3) private excursion 4) speed boat to Oia and bus to Fira with either cable car down or walk the steps down I chose option 4. I booked the Aegean Traveler on their website for an 8:30am ride for 15euro each. The speed boat (that’s not a speed boat) picks up at the tender port and then takes you to the base of Oia where they then provide a bus to the top. We woke up at 6:30, ate a quick breakfast, and caught the first tender to shore. Jewel of the Seas Greek Isles - Mykonos Part 2

Immediately off the water taxi in Mykonos you are greeted by culture and beauty. Everywhere we looked were signs of authentic greek life. Fisherman and farmers sold goods out of the backs of trucks cats were mingling about hoping for scraps there were even some shadow cats peeking out Did I mention I'm allergic to cats? I just LOVED the cleanliness of this beautiful place and how it made the colors POP! We came around a corner and there they were...the infamous windmills: There is a little shop under the windmills where I purchased some bracelets for our moms and a greek eye keychain. We continued on and stopped in this cute little grill for lunch My first ever gyro! It was delicious. We spent several hours walking around, buying souvenirs, and finally headed back to the ship... Our next stop is Santorini....the TOP of both of our bucket lists.  Stay tuned! Does it live up to the hype?
