Dreams into Reality

Image
I have decided to make one of my dreams come true.   I’ve never really been one to voice my dreams.   I think because I didn’t feel I deserved to have dreams come true.   But now that I have a much healthier mindset I’ve learned to think differently.   When I told my mom and sisters what I’m planning to do they were all surprised because they had no idea it was my dream. So, I’m going to Ireland.   Yes, Ireland.   Why Ireland?   I don’t really have any legitimate explanation for that.   My heart, my soul feel this tug to visit the ruined castles, the rocky cliffs, the history and the people.   I have no known Irish heritage. I don’t know anyone there.   I’ve wanted to go since I was little.   It’s at the top of my list. Why this “sudden”decision to go?...Why not? I’m single, I have a good job, and if I don’t do something to enjoy life, it will pass me by.   YOLO is a term being thrown around way too much in my opini...

2012 Resolutions

I'm not usually a resolution maker, but 2011 was such a year of change for me and a time for getting to know who I really am, so I decided to come up with some things I'd like to focus on accomplishing this next year.  Considering the stats out there on people who actually uphold their "new year's resolutions", I'm perhaps I should rename this my 2012 Goals :) 1.  Hike to the top of Rattlesnake (since last time I tried was almost 2 years ago and I couldn't make it) 2.  Complete a half marathon 3.  Reach my new goal weight of 140 and maintain it! 4.  Do a study on the book of Revelations 5.  Take a vacation 6.  Take a cooking class 7.  Start a small in-home craft business 8.  Strive to further my skills in the admin field 9.  Save Save Save 10. And the greatest of all: be still in the Lord everyday and show Jesus to others What are some of your goals for the coming year?

30 things by 30?

I've decided to make a list of the things I want to do in the next year.  Compiled of things I want to learn or enjoy or be.  Let's see how many of these I can accomplish by the time July 1, 2012 rolls around!  And then as I complete one I'll blog about it! 1.  try Thai food 2.  finish reading Forgotten God and Erasing Hell 3.  do an intensive study on the book of Acts 4.  do something with my hair I've never done before 5.  shop in a regular size clothing store!!! 6.  learn to sew 7.  clean out my craft supplies 8.  go on a date-a real one 9.  spend a weekend in Vancouver 10. attend a Women's Retreat 11. keep my car clean for an entire month 12. treat myself to gift I would normally never consider 13. send a card a week to friends 14. learn to re-upholster 15. build my own headboard 16. run/walk in a marathon 17. forgive 18. go a week without making a single purchase 19. go camping 20. r...

A Few Of My Favorite Things

So this entry isn't really about a specific craft.  This week I'm trying to focus on positivity, and so, to brighten my day, these are a few of my favorite things to reflect upon: 1) the satisfaction I feel in knowing that something I have made is truly enjoyed by the person receiving it.  Whether that be a card, a trinket box, or a food dish. 2) the fun of curling up on my couch with a blanket and all the lights off except for the Christmas tree.  so peaceful. 3) the peace that never ceases to amaze me while I'm singing in worship 4)I may not have what some consider a lot of friends, but I'm completely blessed with the friends that I do have.  Quality, not quantity. 5) Where I was in my life 3 years ago and where I am now.  What a difference.  Thank you God that I'm never going back there.

So Thankful!

I just love love love the French Foliage set from stampin up!  I debated for a while whether or not I was going to get it, but I'm so glad I finally did.  This is your standard A2 size card.  I just cut a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, colored the stamps with miscellaneous markers (not by SU) and randomly stamped the images.  Once I had the look i desired, I cut a strip of blue cardstock and ran it through my scalloped edge punch.  Simple and easy!  I have a ton of buttons so I just picked one out that I liked, ran some SU twine through it, and put it on the brown slab I had popped up on dimensionals.  The sentiment is from the SU Chit Chat Rub Ons.  The picture below is basically a copy of the image that I put on the inside of the card.  I feel like it definitely completes the look!

Christmas in August

I finally started my Christmas cards today. I made three, but this is the only finished one. I fashioned this off of a CAS challenge. Everything here is Stampin Up except the red card stock. Baja Breeze, chocolate chip, always artichoke, scalloped edge punch, chit chat rub ons, and retired holiday paper.

So much has happened since my last post! Switched departments and job titles at work, been sick, took vacation, crafted for hours, lol! I really wish my camera took better pictures of the things I've done! grr. these pictures just don't seem to do them justice! The card above was made with the New In Colors, Great friend butterfly stamp, and an Inkadinkado stamp. Once I receive my new ribbon in the mail, I'll be replacing the yellow strip. I'm so excited! I made this card for a sketch challenge on SCS.
