We’re Going On A Trip!

First class round trip = $11 each

Hotel for 7 nights = $0

rental SUV from Budget for 8 days = $150 each

We were supposed to be going to Mexico in February, but due to the new CDC guidelines we decided that wasn’t a good idea for us. Today, we booked a week in Tampa (via Orlando) over Valentine’s Day week. We’ve got a lot in store and I hope you’ll come back to read about it! While we’re in Tampa we’re going to be looking at housing areas and neighborhoods to hopefully pin down where we want to buy. 2 birds with one stone.

Do you play the credit card game? I learned how to do it and so far we’ve managed to have some amazing trips for virtually free. Comment below if you’d like me to post more about it or if you play the game yourself. Tell me your stories!

    The new guidelines, indeed, are tough. We returned from Cancun a few weeks ago. I had to get tested for work and teleworked during the quarantine, negative results on both of us. Interesting blog, you guys seem to travel a lot as we do, some of your med ports we've been and enjoyed them. Credit card game? I will have to look into that. And your upcoming sounds like a good deal!

      we’re counting down the days until we’re on the plane! Our fear for going to Tulum after the new CdC rule is that we’d get stuck there :( Since Nate owns his business, it’s really not possible for him to be gone too long at this time of year. Definitely check out some youtube videos on credit card churning.

Greek Isles 2019 Formal Night & Chania, Crete

 Time for our first formal night! Once Nate’s clothes showed up he did a quick change and we were ready to go.     According to wiki: Chania is the second largest city in Crete and dates back to 1100BC. The occupied history of the city is rather sad and worth the read...especially the section on World War II....which hit home for us because Nate’s grandmother is Jewish and was forced to leave Austria for China as a teen. We got up at 7 and just caught the sunrise as we went to breakfast   The harbor reminded me a lot of Cabo mixed with a little Malta to be honest.     After finishing our meal and taking advantage of the restaurant’s WC we continued our walking tour through the streets of Chania. We would definitely go back to Crete. It's very different from any other island we have visited and is saturated in history. Jewel of the Seas Greek Isles - Our final day in Rome 2019

  one of the couples in the shuttle were from our roll call (hi Mark and wife!!!) so we got to talk about the trip, our plans and lives a bit on the way. We had emailed a lot prior to the cruise, had been trying to say hi all week, and it just hadn’t worked. Such a wonderful drive and convo. before we knew it the driver had stopped and named our hotel. Hotel Otivm is a very short distance from Altar to the Fatherland is located in Palazzo Venezia. View from outside the hotel door: Since it was only before 11 we left our bags with the clerk and went off to galavant. Nate has to recreate his picture from last year Back in May a friend of Nate’s took a security job on the military base in northern Italy so he and his family packed up and moved from Colorado. When they found out we were going to be in Rome they rented themselves and Air BnB and drive down for the weekend. I texted the wife on what’s app and told them to meet us in front of the building “that looks like a big white cake”.

Fira, Santorini - Jewel of the Seas Greek Isles Travel Blog

 The bus finally appeared at our meeting point and we again snagged a seat at the front in order to be fast off. The drive from Oia to Fira took about 20 minutes with “traffic”meaning all the 4 wheelers on the road wouldn’t get out of the way.  There is a walking trail from Oia to Fira that I’ve heard is beautiful, but around 6 miles…I need to check that info out.   When we got off the bus we had a short walk through streets filled with homes to get to the tourist area.     We stopped in a screen printing shop I wanted to buy these but didn’t...I’ve regretted it ever since ☹️   The views are just breathtaking everywhere you look     can you spot the cable cars below?   We walked aroud in Fira for quite a while before finally deciding to make the trek down the donkey stairs to our tender back to ship.  I think I actually cried a little as we walked down…saying goodbye to this beautiful place and checking it off my bucket list. I thought I’d never see it again...
