Rome 2019 Continued & Embarkation Day

So on last year’s trip one of my top 2 gelato places was Gelateria Della Palma. They have 150 flavors and are located near the Pantheon.
I knew I HAD to go there again.
After rounding the Colosseum we decided on dinner somewhere near the gelato place and started walking that way. We found a cute restaurant a few doors down and grabbed a table.

I’ll have to search through my receipts to find the name of it. I’d rate it 6 or 7 out of 10. The flat bread and prosciutto were great but the pizza and steak just ok.

After paying our 56euro bill we headed to the gelateria.

I received an email from the shuttle service with the confirmed pick up time and a picture of our driver (we never had the same driver). We woke up at 10 for our 11am late check out. I don’t think I’ve mentioned the prices I paid for our transfers: to and from the port was 69euro and to and from the airport was 50euro.
We had a few minutes to kill so spent 6.50euro at La Baguetteria (nutella croissant and prosciutto sandwich) and shuttle picked us up at 11:20 on the dot. This cute cafe is just outside the hotel.

Our driver showed up right on time. Sometimes a shared service can be quite a quiet drive OR it can be like this one and totally awesome. We rode with a couple from Cleveland, Lisa and Roger, celebrating their 35th anniversary and cruising with us and a family from Australia going on the Norwegian Jade. We had great conversation covering a range of topics the whole way to the ship.

Once onboard, we walked up to deck 11 to watch sail away party...what there was of one...and a cc member came up and introduced themselves (hi OB and Brenda!) We talked for quite a while before splitting for their dinner and us to go to the gym.

After the gym we came back to room and a tech came to fix the safe...all set!

Greek Isles 2019 Formal Night & Chania, Crete

 Time for our first formal night! Once Nate’s clothes showed up he did a quick change and we were ready to go.     According to wiki: Chania is the second largest city in Crete and dates back to 1100BC. The occupied history of the city is rather sad and worth the read...especially the section on World War II....which hit home for us because Nate’s grandmother is Jewish and was forced to leave Austria for China as a teen. We got up at 7 and just caught the sunrise as we went to breakfast   The harbor reminded me a lot of Cabo mixed with a little Malta to be honest.     After finishing our meal and taking advantage of the restaurant’s WC we continued our walking tour through the streets of Chania. We would definitely go back to Crete. It's very different from any other island we have visited and is saturated in history. Ireland Day 6: Blarney Castle and on to Cork

It took me around 6 months to plan my trip and a year's worth of hard work and saving, but I poured my heart into each and every moment of planning.  And now, there are only 2 days left. I can't believe it.  It has all been incredibly worth it. We left the Randles Court this morning a little after 8 and decided to just hit the road for Blarney Castle.  I had previously planned on us eating lunch in Blarney at the Muskerry Arms.  We pulled into Blarney around 10am and decided to just eat brunch there instead.  We had the restaurant practically to ourselves which was nice. A continental breakfast of fruits and cereals and brown bread was provided and then we were able to order off the hot menu in addition.  Both of us ordered omelets...I didn't get a picture of the omelet because I was too hungry and wolfed it down.  The brown bread here was FAR superior to the brown bread of yesterday and the omelet was delicious. I would definitely recommend this rest...

A Few Of My Favorite Things

So this entry isn't really about a specific craft.  This week I'm trying to focus on positivity, and so, to brighten my day, these are a few of my favorite things to reflect upon: 1) the satisfaction I feel in knowing that something I have made is truly enjoyed by the person receiving it.  Whether that be a card, a trinket box, or a food dish. 2) the fun of curling up on my couch with a blanket and all the lights off except for the Christmas tree.  so peaceful. 3) the peace that never ceases to amaze me while I'm singing in worship 4)I may not have what some consider a lot of friends, but I'm completely blessed with the friends that I do have.  Quality, not quantity. 5) Where I was in my life 3 years ago and where I am now.  What a difference.  Thank you God that I'm never going back there.
