Jewel of the Seas Greek Isles - Disembarkation Day & Our Day In Rome Part 2
After spending time at the Spanish Steps we decided not to have a real destination in mind accept to end in Piazza Navona at some point. So wandered we did.
St. Peter's
I now wish I would have gone inside this church and I don't even know the name of it.
Finally at Piazza Navona
We got a table at Restaurante Domiziano right on the piazza
here's the view from our table:
After eating we wandered further to Camp De Fiore (the open market) which to be honest was not that impressive compared to things I had heard.
We continued walking..
Recognize this? That's right..."our" building
The original selfie:
we decided to go up these stairs and to our amazement we entered this:
I cried at the beauty of it
Drum roll please....we are back at the place it all began...
The guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier:
We continued walking around, eating more gelato, and made our way back to our hotel..
Nate wanted to rest a bit and watch some news so I explored the rooftop terrace of our hotel:
I was growing hangry so went back to the room, grabbed fiancé and demanded we eat.
My intention was to eat here based on reviews but they didn't have pizza:
Bingo! we found a place right Piazza Della Rotunda
I had 3 glasses of wine and he had 3 beers all at 8euro each plus the pizzas total bill was about 90euro I think but SO worth it. We sat there about 2.5 hours
After dinner and entertainment in the piazza I wanted one last gelato so we went on a hunt
unfortunately it wasn't very good....so we continued walking and found the mecca of gelato...150 flavors!
Gelato #4 was the perfect end to our “eataly” adventure. See what I did there?
So...my thoughts on the hotel...
Fantastic staff but room was HOT all night even when we called to ask and were told they were turning it down. The temp did not change and we couldn’t open the windows due to the noise in the piazza.
We Could hear every noise from the room next door. Paper thin walls.
BUT would we stay there again? Without a doubt. The experience and location alone were incredible. Maybe not for more than one day though.
We had an early flight out of FCO so had arranged with Maurizio to pick us up at 6:30am for 60euro. He showed up on time and we made it to the airport quickly. We expressed our gratitude for the multiple transfers and let him know he’d hear from us again and that we’d be referring people to Cabs 4 Rome.
Breakfast at the airport was actually really delicious
This concludes our trip! Stay tuned for our next adventures ;)
