Jewel of the Seas Greek Isles Day 1 Part 2

After the Forum we decided to wander the streets and make our way to Trevi Fountain

I had also read a couple of reviews about the elevator to the top at Altar of the Fatherland. We decided to head back that way since it was soon to be sunset and I wanted photos over the city.

We were almost to the elevator and I thought the heat was effecting Nate because he needed to sit down. After a while he got back up and we paid the 10euro each to take the elevator to the top. The views up here are WELL worth the elevator ride and cover charge. 360 degrees of beautiful.

We continued to watch the sunset and watch the crowds steadily head back down the elevator. It was soon to close so we didn’t have much time. We wanted a pic that wasn’t a selfie so Nate went to ask the employee up top to take our pic.

Little did I know...

Nate came back to put his arm around me but instead he dropped to his knee and proposed...right there at the top of the building, sunset in the background, church bells ringing around us.

I was in total shock and honestly the rest of the night is kind of a blur but the pics remind me of what we did.

We found a restaurant to eat at but I didn’t take pic of the restaurant or menu. You know I was distracted!
I ate the entire pizza myself tho and I’m now searching for buffalo mozzarella at every local store to me

While we were at dinner we just kept replaying the video and crying...yes the both of us. It was magic. I still cry when I watch it. We hooked up to WiFi and group Imessaged our entire family the news

Greek Isles 2019 Formal Night & Chania, Crete

 Time for our first formal night! Once Nate’s clothes showed up he did a quick change and we were ready to go.     According to wiki: Chania is the second largest city in Crete and dates back to 1100BC. The occupied history of the city is rather sad and worth the read...especially the section on World War II....which hit home for us because Nate’s grandmother is Jewish and was forced to leave Austria for China as a teen. We got up at 7 and just caught the sunrise as we went to breakfast   The harbor reminded me a lot of Cabo mixed with a little Malta to be honest.     After finishing our meal and taking advantage of the restaurant’s WC we continued our walking tour through the streets of Chania. We would definitely go back to Crete. It's very different from any other island we have visited and is saturated in history. United Polaris Class Travel Day to Athens During COVID-19

  We woke up at 4:30am on October 4, 2021, and spent a few minutes snuggling with our schnauzer, Sam, before we had to head out for the 1.5 hour drive to Denver.   We pulled into the park dia lot at 6am and a shuttle promptly pulled in behind us. talk about timing! It was a full shuttle ride with a family heading to Disneyland and a southwest pilot. This was probably the best shuttle ride we’ve ever had! The pilot pulled out his iPad and showed the family the route they would go to get to Cali and how the plane would be guided in on the runway. It was actually really neat to watch. We all gave him a huge thank you for starting our day that way. Once dropped at the airport we headed straight to the United desk. I was expecting to see barely any employees but that was not the case! Every kiosk had a person plus they had 4 people manning the digital stations. Jewel of the Seas Greek Isles - Naples Part 2

When the bus dropped us off back at port we set out to explore the town. We went up into residential areas...school kids were walking home, men were standing on the corners having a smoke and chatting, corner veggie stands with people picking up veggies for the night’ dinner... It wasn't really a cold day, but it was quite windy.  I was in jeans and a jacket for most of it. We stumbled (literally stumbled) into Galleria Umberto, the world's oldest shopping mall, and our jaws dropped at the sheer beauty and architecture of it. signs on the non tourist streets of Naples: We were growing hungry again so headed back to the shopping area to find that classic Naples pizza for me. We tried 2 different places, but both were disappointing to be honest.
